$42 for a T-shirt. Is Silva Espadas actually worth the premium over other streetwear brands?

Disclosure: This page contains affiliate links. If you buy through them, I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you (Silva Espadas also offers a 10% discount with code ELINA through this link). I have not personally tested these products — this analysis is built from Silva Espadas's own published pricing and product data compared against other streetwear brands we track. See our methodology below.
We've covered five streetwear brands on this site. Silva Espadas is, by a wide margin, the most expensive: $42 tees, $60–65 crewnecks and hoodies, and $198–248 denim jackets. For comparison, Farm Brand's tees start around $25 and Jamroc Dept.'s core tee runs about $34. So what do you actually get for that premium?
How we chose
We compared Silva Espadas's published pricing, fabric claims, and production notes against the four other streetwear brands we track that have real affiliate programs (Jamroc Dept., Farm Brand USA, Surf Trip Supply, Stay Another Day), using each brand's live catalog pulled on August 29, 2026. We're not testing any of these garments in person — this is a value analysis based on what each brand actually publishes.
The price gap, in numbers
| Brand | Core tee price | Core hoodie/crewneck price |
|---|---|---|
| Silva Espadas | $42 | $60–65 |
| Surf Trip Supply | $55* | $75–98 |
| Jamroc Dept. | $34–85 | $120–165 |
| Stay Another Day | $28–35 | $55–63 |
| Farm Brand USA | $25–35 | $45–60 |
*Surf Trip Supply's two tee styles were sold out across every size at the time we checked; $55 is the listed price, not a current buying option. On tees specifically, Silva Espadas sits in the middle of the pack — more than Farm Brand or Stay Another Day, in the same range as Jamroc Dept.'s cheapest tee. On hoodies and crewnecks it's actually one of the cheaper options here; Jamroc Dept.'s heavyweight hoodies run well past it.
What the premium price actually buys
- 100% ringspun cotton, where published. The handful of listings that publish fabric detail (7 of 45 clean apparel items) describe "100% ultra-premium soft ringspun cotton" at 200–230 GSM for tees, and up to 340 GSM for the heaviest hoodie. That's a genuinely heavy tee — most budget streetwear tees land closer to 140–160 GSM.
- Hand-finished acid-wash. Several tees are described as individually acid-washed by hand, with the brand explicitly stating "every piece comes out slightly different… that's not a flaw, that's the point." That's a real production claim, not something we can verify in person, but it does explain part of the cost versus a mass screen-printed tee.
- Cultural specificity. Silva Espadas's whole catalog is built around Latino/Chicano identity — phrases, iconography, and references you won't find at any of the other four brands we track. If that's the point of the purchase, no competitor here is a real substitute.
- Denim jackets, not printed jackets. At $198–248, Silva Espadas's jackets are actual denim construction (some patchwork, some reconstructed vintage denim) — a different product category than the fleece or nylon jackets the other four brands sell in that price range.
Where the value argument weakens
- Fabric weight is published on only 7 of 45 items. For most of the catalog, you're paying the premium price without a published number to back up the "premium fabric" claim — you'd have to trust the brand's general description.
- Stock is thin on a lot of designs. Several of the pieces we checked had only 1–3 units left across all sizes combined, consistent with small-batch or limited runs — good for exclusivity, less good if you're hoping to restock a favorite later.
- No published discount tiers beyond the 10% code. Farm Brand and Stay Another Day both run frequent site-wide sales; at the time of writing we didn't see equivalent recurring markdowns at Silva Espadas.
Who it's worth it for
- ✅ You specifically want Latino/Chicano cultural design work — no other brand we track sells this
- ✅ You want an actual denim jacket, not a printed fleece one
- ✅ You care more about a heavyweight, hand-finished tee than the absolute lowest price per shirt
Who should shop elsewhere
- ❌ You want the lowest possible price per tee — Farm Brand or Stay Another Day both start lower
- ❌ You want a hoodie built specifically around fabric weight data — Jamroc Dept. publishes GSM on nearly every hoodie, Silva Espadas only on a handful
- ❌ You need a guaranteed restock — small-batch pieces here sell out and may not return
Frequently asked questions
Is Silva Espadas more expensive than other streetwear brands?
On tees, it's mid-pack among the five brands we track — more than Farm Brand or Stay Another Day, less
than Surf Trip Supply's graphic tees. On hoodies/crewnecks, it's actually cheaper than Jamroc Dept.
Does Silva Espadas publish fabric weight (GSM)?
On some items — 7 of 45 clean apparel listings we checked. Where published, tees run 200–230 GSM and
hoodies up to 340 GSM, both on the heavier end for their category.
Is the 10% ELINA discount code worth using?
At these price points, 10% off a $42 tee ($4.20) or a $248 jacket ($24.80) is a meaningful discount —
worth applying regardless of which piece you're buying.
Are Silva Espadas pieces limited edition?
Several of the designs we checked had very low remaining stock across all sizes combined, consistent
with small-batch production — we can't confirm whether specific designs will restock.
Methodology and limitations
This is a price and published-data comparison, not a hands-on quality test. We compared Silva Espadas's live catalog against four other streetwear brands' live catalogs, all pulled on August 29, 2026. Fabric composition and weight claims are reported exactly as each brand publishes them; we have not independently verified any of them in a lab. Prices and stock reflect a single snapshot and change constantly.
