Both of these are small, independent US apparel brands — not the giant streetwear names — and both show up often enough in hoodie shopping searches that people ask how they stack up against each other. They’re not really competing for the same purchase, though: one is a California surf label built around hand-drawn art, the other is a mental-health-awareness brand built around a crisis hotline number. We read both brands’ live product data side by side to see where each one actually wins.
Short answer
| You care most about | Winner | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The cheapest real hoodie | Stay Another Day | Most adult hoodie designs are $55, with several at that price versus Surf Trip Supply’s $80–98 median |
| Sizing above 2XL | Stay Another Day | Hoodies/crewnecks reach 5XL on 45 of 50 designs. Surf Trip Supply tops out at XL, XXL on one style |
| Your size actually being in stock | Stay Another Day | ~98% of adult hoodie/tee variants in stock at time of writing, vs. roughly three-quarters for Surf Trip Supply |
| Original hand-drawn surf/beach art | Surf Trip Supply | Founder-drawn graphics, Y2K and surf motifs — Stay Another Day’s designs are simpler text/icon prints |
| Knowing how a piece fits before buying | Surf Trip Supply | Most product pages list the model’s height and the size they’re wearing |
| A cause-driven purchase | Stay Another Day | Brand states a portion of sales supports the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (its own stated claim, not independently audited) |

Price: Stay Another Day is cheaper across every category
Every figure below was read directly from each brand’s live product data on July 29, 2026.
| Category | Surf Trip Supply | Stay Another Day |
|---|---|---|
| Hoodie | $67.50–$98, most at $89–98 | $25.95–$75, most adult designs at $55 (embroidered $63, Camo Premium $75) |
| T-shirt | $55 (one design, two colorways) | Mostly $28, $35 for embroidered, $13–$55 across special/collab editions |
| Crewneck | not sold | $29.95–$58 |
| Long sleeve | not sold (button-ups/long sleeve tee instead, $55–$75) | $28–$43 |
Stay Another Day is the cheaper brand on every apparel category it competes in, and it also sells crewnecks and long-sleeve tees that Surf Trip Supply doesn’t carry at all. If budget is the deciding factor, this isn’t close.
Why the gap exists: Surf Trip Supply is a small-batch, founder-drawn brand — the cost reflects limited production runs and original art. Stay Another Day prints a smaller set of recurring designs (a “988” numeral, hearts, butterflies, simple text) across a wider size grid at higher volume, which is a cheaper model to run.
Size range: Stay Another Day reaches sizes Surf Trip Supply doesn’t offer
| Surf Trip Supply | Stay Another Day | |
|---|---|---|
| Typical size range | S–XL (one knit sweater goes to XXL) | XS–5XL on hoodies/crewnecks |
| Hoodie designs reaching 5XL | 0 | 27 of 30 hoodie/hooded-sweatshirt designs |
| Crewneck designs reaching 5XL | — (doesn’t sell crewnecks) | 18 of 20 |
| Tee/long-sleeve size ceiling | XL | Mostly caps around 3XL — only 5 of 33 tee designs reach 5XL, and none of its 16 long-sleeve designs do |
If you wear above an XL, Surf Trip Supply’s catalog is effectively closed to you outside one sweater style. Stay Another Day’s hoodies and crewnecks are the strongest plus-size option between the two — though its own tees and long sleeves are more size-limited than its hoodies, so check the specific garment type, not just the brand.
⚠️ Five Stay Another Day hoodie/crewneck designs break the 5XL pattern, and most are limited drops or brand collabs rather than the core lineup: the Camo Premium Hoodie ($75) and a Christmas giveaway crewneck both cap at 3XL, two “x SAD” collab pieces cap at 3XL, and one collab hoodie stops at just XL. None of these carry a size warning on their product page — worth checking the specific listing if you’re above 2XL and eyeing a collab or seasonal drop.
Stock reliability: Stay Another Day is far less likely to sell out your size
This matters more than it sounds like for a hoodie you’re buying now, not browsing for later.
| Surf Trip Supply | Stay Another Day | |
|---|---|---|
| Hoodie variants in stock | 54 of 72 (75%) | Most designs 55–56 of 56 (~98%) |
| Notable sellouts (at time of writing) | Toggle Hoodie (all sizes), Shark Embroidered Hoodie Brown (all sizes) | Camo Premium Hoodie (3 of 7 sizes only) |
| T-shirt stock | 2 of 8 variants across its one tee design (only M/L in one colorway) | Nearly full stock across 20 designs |
Surf Trip Supply ships out of small batches — real press coverage confirms it started as a founder-run operation and still runs that way, which is part of its appeal but also means popular sizes and colorways go out of stock and don’t always come back quickly. Stay Another Day runs a deeper, more conventional print-and-stock model, and it shows in the numbers: sizes you want are much more likely to actually be there when you click “add to cart.”
Fabric data: neither brand publishes much, and what they do publish differs
- Surf Trip Supply states 100% cotton on some product pages, but publishes an actual fabric weight (GSM) on only 4 of roughly 37 apparel styles — the Toggle Hoodie (460 GSM, currently sold out in every size) and three knit sweaters (260 GSM each).
- Stay Another Day publishes no GSM or ounce weight on any adult apparel item. From an earlier breakdown of its blank garments, its screen-printed and embroidered pieces use the same underlying blanks either way — Gildan Heavyweight Fleece for hoodies/crewnecks, Comfort Colors cotton for tees — so the fabric is a known commodity blank, just not a number the brand states on the product page itself.
Neither brand gives you enough to do a real weight-for-weight comparison the way our Jamroc vs. Farm Brand breakdown could. If fabric weight in GSM is what you’re optimizing for, look at that comparison instead — these two brands aren’t the right pair for that question.
Who should buy Surf Trip Supply
- ✅ You want original, hand-drawn surf or Y2K-style art you won’t see from a print-on-demand shop
- ✅ You wear S–XL and don’t need larger sizing
- ✅ You want to check fit before buying — most product pages list the model’s height and size worn
- ✅ You’re comfortable with a small-batch brand where a specific color/size might be sold out and restocked later
Who should buy Stay Another Day
- ✅ You want the cheapest real hoodie in this comparison, around $55
- ✅ You wear above 2XL — its hoodies and crewnecks are the stronger plus-size option here
- ✅ You want your size to actually be in stock right now
- ✅ A cause-driven purchase matters to you, and you’re comfortable with the brand’s own stated (not independently audited) donation claim
Who should NOT buy from either
- ❌ You want a heavyweight hoodie backed by a published GSM number. Only 4 Surf Trip Supply styles state one, and only one of those (460 GSM) is currently in stock at all — it isn’t. Stay Another Day states none. See Best Heavyweight Hoodies 2026 for brands that do publish fabric weight.
- ❌ You want crewnecks or long sleeves from Surf Trip Supply. It doesn’t sell either — Stay Another Day is the only one of the two that does.
- ❌ You need a specific Surf Trip Supply item guaranteed in stock for a deadline. Its small-batch model means popular styles sell out unevenly; check current stock before relying on it for a gift date.
Frequently asked questions
Is Surf Trip Supply or Stay Another Day better quality? Neither publishes enough fabric data to answer that directly. Surf Trip Supply states 100% cotton on some pages; Stay Another Day’s blanks (Gildan Heavyweight Fleece, Comfort Colors) are known commodity fabrics used across the print industry. We have not physically handled either brand’s garments.
Which brand has better sizing for larger bodies? Stay Another Day, clearly — its hoodies and crewnecks reach 5XL on the large majority of designs. Surf Trip Supply tops out at XL on nearly everything.
Which brand is cheaper? Stay Another Day, on every category both brands sell. Most of its hoodies are $55 versus Surf Trip Supply’s $80–98 range.
Does Stay Another Day’s donation claim mean a fixed percentage goes to charity? No — the brand states that a portion of sales supports the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline but does not publish a percentage, and this has not been independently audited. Treat it as the brand’s own stated commitment, not a verified figure.
Why does Surf Trip Supply sell out so often? Press coverage describes it as a founder-run, small-batch operation. That’s part of its identity as an indie brand, but it does mean specific sizes and colorways go out of stock and don’t always restock quickly — a real tradeoff against Stay Another Day’s deeper inventory.
Can I compare their fabric weight the way you did for Jamroc and Farm Brand? Not meaningfully. Surf Trip Supply publishes a GSM number on only 4 styles; Stay Another Day publishes none. There isn’t enough data on either side for a fair weight-for-weight comparison.
Do the prices and stock levels on this page change? Yes. Both brands adjust pricing and inventory regularly. Everything here was read directly from each brand’s live product data on July 29, 2026 — check current listings before ordering.
Methodology and limitations
We read the complete live product data for both brands on July 29, 2026: 43 listed items from Surf Trip Supply (37 of them apparel, after excluding gift cards, shipping protection, and novelty non-clothing items like a lunch box, a cassette player prop, and surf wax) and 130 listed items from Stay Another Day (100 of them adult apparel, after excluding gift cards, drinkware, decals, hats, and kids’/youth sizing). From those we extracted price, published fabric weight, size range per style, and current stock status per variant.
We have not physically handled either brand’s garments. Price, published specs, size availability and current stock are verifiable from live catalog data. Stitch quality, shrinkage, colorfastness and long-term wear are not — we make no claim about them here.
